In 2003, after graduating from Marmara University Faculty of Law, he completed his legal internship and went to the United States of America to start his postgraduate studies and completed his Master's degree in International Law at Temple Beasley School of Law in 2008. Subsequently, he worked as an associate and partner lawyer in private law firms and in the finance and insurance sector in Turkey.

Murat Umut Akbeniz, who is currently pursuing his PhD studies at Galatasaray University Department of Public Law and has been working as a freelance lawyer since 2012, continues to work on litigation, alternative dispute resolution, counselling and personal data protection law.
